This is the online version of MPS 2020
to give everyone the opportunity to see the show.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic,
the opening reception as well as the exhibition at the BRAF gallery
(Boothbay Region Art Foundation)
has been cancelled.
The exhibition at the BRAF gallery may be rescheduled once the situation permits.
Please note that all exhibited photos are for sale.
Inquire at BRAF for price and delivery options.
Have you purchased your 2020 catalog?
It's a wonderful, well printed catalog of the exhibition.
Online "catalogs" come and go, but with a printed catalog,
you have a permanent record of the show.
Call BRAF at 207-633-2703 after 12:00 noon and order with credit or debit card.
Or if you prefer, send a check to
BRAF, PO Box 124, Boothbay Harbor, ME 04538.
The cost is $25.00 + $5.00 shipping, and we will send it immediately.
Steve Dunn died unexpectedly this past August.
Steve has been one of the initiators of the Maine Photography Show,
and he was instrumental in his work at the Steering Committee.
We mourn the loss of our long time friend.
To commemorate and celebrate his life and work, we exhibit his photography as part of the show!
While the physical exhibition at the BRAF gallery has been cancelled,
examples of his photography are shown here
We are currently 10 members at the Committee.
Follow this link to view our biographies.
To avoid potential conflict of interest,
Committee members do not participate in the contest for the show.
However, we are all avid photographers and take the
opportunity to exhibit one photograph of our work.

Life is not measured
by the number of breaths we take,
but by the moments
that take our breath away.
"Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst"
- Henri Cartier-Bresson
When we travel we explore,
observe and capture the moments
"There are no foreign lands.
It is the traveler only who is foreign."
- Robert Louis Stevenson
Stopped by the beauty of the flowers
only to discover this wonderful couple.
They have a passion for glads with fields of flowers
that they raise and sell year after year.
Be Prepared (Burano, Venice)
One of the things I like about photography is
being able to capture scenes
that depict certain matters that
may leave behind unanswered questions.
This photo was taken a few days after the
historic flood surge in Venice last November.
The street was about one foot under water then.
Among others, there are
questions about how we can best be prepared.
On The Street-Venice, Italy
A scene taken in Venice, Italy,
where the haves and have-nots
often have to share the road.
"I am forever chasing light.
Light turns the ordinary into the magical."
- Trent Parke, Australian photographer
Saluting a Hero
"Firefighters are some of the most
selfless public servants you will ever encounter"
- Denis Leary
Sugar Hill Lupine
"Staying motivated and inspired is
crucial for a photographer's long-term growth.
It's far more important than
having good gear or perfect lighting.
After all, if you feel unmotivated,
your expensive equipment will lie untouched,
collecting dust while you make excuses for
why you're not shooting any photos today.
When you're inspired, you push yourself
to practice more, overcome challenges,
and work hard to get stunning images.
You get up early for a golden hour sunrise shot
and stay up late shooting the night sky.
And, all the while, you're loving it."
- Nate Kay
